What a Bagless Day looks like
On a Bagless Day, children come to school without their bags. The day is still a school day; it is just taught differently.
Instead of textbooks and notebooks, classes work with their hands and on their feet. A morning might start with a story told aloud and acted out, move to a craft or a building task, and finish outdoors in the garden or on the field with a game that practises what the class has been learning.
The point is not a break from learning. Some things are learnt better by doing them: measuring by actually measuring, observing plants by looking at them, speaking confidently by speaking to the class.
Parents often tell us their children talk more about Bagless Days at home than about any other day. That is the conversation we hope for.
