Why we have Bagless Days
Children learn in different ways, and a timetable built only around reading and writing suits some of them far better than others. Bagless Days give every child a regular day built around doing.
They also lighten the load, literally. Heavy school bags are a real concern for young children, and a day without one is welcome.
Teachers plan Bagless Days as carefully as any other day. Each activity links back to what the class is studying, so a craft session or a garden walk is part of the term's learning, not a filler.
And they build skills a test cannot easily measure: working in a group, explaining an idea out loud, trying something and trying again when it does not work first time.
