Science or Commerce after Class 10?
Subjects, careers and exams for each stream, and a simple way to decide together.
IN SHORT
Choose Science if your child enjoys Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology and is drawn to engineering, medicine or research; choose Commerce if they enjoy numbers, business and economics and see themselves in CA, finance, management or law. Decide on interest and Class 10 marks in those subjects, not on what friends choose.

How to decide
- Look at the Class 9 and 10 marks in Maths and Science
- Ask which subjects your child would study even without an exam
- Talk to someone working in the careers your child is drawn to
- Keep options open: PCM with Biology or Commerce with Maths widens later choices
Class XI admission at Mayo
Class XI admission for 2027-28 is open until 15 December 2026 (40 seats this round).
Preparation with Physics Wallah and VMC happens inside the school timetable, not in a coaching centre after school.
Questions parents ask
Which is better after Class 10, Science or Commerce?
Neither is better for everyone. Science suits children aiming for engineering, medicine or research; Commerce suits those drawn to CA, finance, business or economics.
Can a Commerce student do engineering?
No. Engineering entrance (JEE) needs Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Classes XI and XII.
Can a Science student move to Commerce careers later?
Yes. Science students can take CA, management and economics routes later; the reverse is not possible.
