Nursery, LKG or UKG in 2027-28: which class can your child join?

The first question most families ask is which class their child can join. At Mayo International School the answer comes from one rule: your child's age on 31 March of the year the session starts. For the 2027-28 session, that date is 31 March 2027.

Nursery: your child should be at least 3 and under 4 years old on 31 March 2027. That means a date of birth from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024.

LKG: at least 4 and under 5 years old on 31 March 2027, which means a date of birth from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023.

UKG: at least 5 and under 6 years old on 31 March 2027, which means a date of birth from 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022.

The age rule Mayo uses, the birth dates it means for 2027-28, and the dates and documents to have ready.

If your child's birthday is close to the cut-off, check the exact date against these ranges. A child born on 1 April is the oldest in their class, not the youngest in the next one.

Applications for 2027-28 opened on 1 August 2026 and close on 15 December 2026. This round has 60 seats each in Nursery, LKG and UKG. Each class page shows whether seats are still open or the class has moved to a waitlist.

For the application you will need your child's birth certificate, a passport photograph, a parent's photo ID and proof of address. Your child's Aadhaar and immunisation record are optional. A clear phone photo of each document is enough; you do not need a scanner.

The form takes about ten minutes and saves as you go, so you can stop and come back. If anything is unclear, leave your number and the admissions office will call you back.
