Moving to Delhi: getting school admission

When to apply, what to bring, moving between boards, and finding a school on your new route.

IN SHORT

Contact schools as soon as you know your new area — seats fill class by class. Bring the transfer certificate, the last report card, the birth certificate, photographs and proof of your new address. Children can move into CBSE from other boards; mid-year moves into Class X or XII depend on CBSE registration, so ask before you apply.

Changing boards

Moving from a state board, ICSE or IB into CBSE is common. A transfer certificate from another state may need countersigning by that state's education office — the new school will tell you.
