EWS and DG admission in Delhi

Who qualifies for free seats in private schools, how the central online draw works, and the documents to keep ready.

IN SHORT

Under the Right to Education Act, private unaided schools in Delhi keep 25% of entry-level seats (usually Nursery, KG and Class 1) for children from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Disadvantaged Groups (DG) and children with special needs (CWSN). Parents apply once, online, on the Directorate of Education's portal, and seats are given by a computerised draw. The income limit and dates are set in each year's notice.

Questions parents ask

How do I apply for EWS admission in Delhi?

Apply online on the Directorate of Education's portal when the year's notice opens. Seats are allotted by a computerised draw.

No. EWS/DG applications go through the DoE's central online system, not to schools.
