Nursery class: age, syllabus and the day

What a Nursery year covers — language, numbers, the senses and independence — and how Mayo teaches it through play.

IN SHORT

Nursery (Pre-Nursery, Playgroup, Pre-KG or Pre-school in some schools) is for children who are 3 to under 4 on 31 March of the year the session starts. The year builds listening and speaking, early sounds and numbers, fine-motor control and independence — through play, not workbooks. At Mayo International School in Patparganj, East Delhi, it follows Kreedo's play-based early-years programme. Nursery admission for 2027-28 is open until 15 December 2026 (60 seats this round).

Nursery at Mayo

CBSE does not prescribe a fixed pre-primary syllabus; schools plan the early years with NCERT's National Curriculum Framework for the Foundational Stage (2022). Mayo uses Kreedo's programme for it.

  • Kreedo's play-based early-years programme: learning through toys, games and hands-on activity
  • A dedicated Play Room with age-appropriate toys, interactive zones, and motor-skill and social play
  • Tata Edge smart classrooms alongside play-based learning
  • Abacus included at no extra cost
  • Excursions and field trips through the year
  • No formal examinations: termly observation reports and reading levels instead
  • A settling-in week at the start: staggered 90-minute days, with a parent allowed in the room for the first three days
  • Toy library week

Safety for young children

The school runs its own buses, with female helpers, GPS tracking, dashcams and emergency contact support at all times.

  • 128 CCTV cameras across the campus with round-the-clock monitoring
  • Female attendants, and separate washrooms for boys and girls
  • Visitor I-cards and restricted entry for outsiders
  • An on-campus medical room and regular student health check-ups

Fees

Plus a one-time admission fee of ₹25,000.

School bus: ₹2,100 – 3,000/mo.

NURSERY – UKG₹96,600 a year (₹18,300 per quarter)
